Media Studies AS Evaluation

1 comment:

  1. This needs to be more detailed. I've pasted below the general feedback I've given year 12 for the evaluation. You need to cover more ground and put more depth into your answers.
    Question 1:
You need to make reference to why you've used codes and conventions and what this means for your product.

    Question 2:
You need to make specific references to the social groups. You haven't mentioned them and you need to give much more detail than this. You need to explain with more detail, what you put in place to represent the ideology of your audience. How did you use language etc...
    Question 3:
If you are doing a magazine very similar to another do you not think that this publisher would already be putting its money into that publication. You need to think very carefully. Warner Brothers work with DC comics only because there would be conflict of interest to work with Marvel as well. A Publisher would look at one publication in one genre for a reason. Consider is your magazine mainstream or is it more independent? Why would a global company suit your magazine or would a smaller one be more beneficial. EVALUATE don't TELL.
    Question 4:
Not really answering the question here. You need to use the audience profile for XXL and then compare it to one of your own. The top of your answer is more on the next question in terms of how it is appealing to your audience. You need to say who your audience is likely to be. Draw some inspiration from fan videos of the artists you've mentioned. Create a full audience profile for your own magazine.

    Question 6:
It's what have you learned from the technologies used. Don't just tell me what you used and a small piece of information about each one. You need to be specific and tell me that you have learned something about Production, Research and Planning, Evaluating. You've also used many more programmes than you have indicated in your Prezi, you need to be much more specific and perhaps group them into the three stages. Have these programmes made your work easier to do? More difficult? Have they enabled you to be more creative? Have you been able to refine your search skills and be more selective in the way you go about conducting research? Have you used new online systems and been able to see how digital media is more efficient and can reach a larger audience?

The exact same number of marks as you are awarded for research and planning are up for grabs on this work...think about whether you're putting in the right amount of effort for the same number of marks?

    Question 7
Really reflect on your own progress, what have you learned, what have you realised you could have done better? How did you feel about your first piece of work compared to what you've produced. what journey have you been on through media studies. Is it what you thought? Have you learned anything about yourself as part of the process. Think about what the question means.
